On July 18, 2023, at approximately 6 p.m., East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested the person who was involved in the Mississauga Avenue apartment building investigation.
At approximately 11:15 p.m. on July 17, 2023, a complainant reported an unknown male who entered their apartment who exposed himself and pleasured himself. The male departed on foot when the complainant's partner returned to the apartment. Then at approximately 11:30 p.m. a separate complainant reported the same male following them in the hallway and was asked if they were single. This complainant quickly entered their apartment and locked the door. Police attended the location a short time after and searched the area with negative results. Apartment building video surveillance both inside and outside were obtained and the male was identified and arrested on July 18.
Demetrius Giroux-Piwtarak, 25 years old from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
- break, enter dwelling house - commit indictable offence of indecent acts
- disguise with intent
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on July 19, 2023.
Police thank the public for assisting with the investigation and identifying the male.
