An Elliot Lake teen is facing additional charges in an ongoing sexual assault investigation after more alleged victims came forward to police.

The suspect was originally arrested last month after Ontario Provincial Police received numerous sexual assault-related complaints from multiple people in April.

“All of the complainants reported being sexually assaulted by the same person, and as such an investigation commenced,” the OPP said in a news release on May 5.

Last month another victim came forward with sexual assault allegations stemming from an incident in February, and a second victim says they were assaulted in mid-May. Their cell phone was damaged.

On Tuesday, the 13-year-old from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
  • Assault (two counts)
  • Mischief - interfering with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment, or operation of property - under $5,000

The teen is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 10.

“If you need support or know someone that does, there are local resources here to help,” added the OPP.
