Teen facing further charges after sexual assault arrest

The teen was initially charged on May 5 and has since been charged with contacting one of the victims through a social media platform afterward

On May 10, 2023, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested the teen again in relation to breaching previous release conditions. This was a result of an ongoing sexual assault investigation in Elliot Lake.

In April 2023, the OPP received numerous sexual assault related complaints from multiple victims. All of the complainants reported being sexually assaulted by the same person. As a result, the teen was arrested and charged on May 5, 2023.

On May 8, 2023, police were notified that the teen was communicating with one of the previous victims by way of messaging via social media platform Snapchat. Consequently, the 13-year-old from Elliot Lake was charged with two counts of failure to comply with undertaking.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on May 10, 2023.
