As the end of summer approaches, the Blind River minor hockey league season begins, a program designed to foster confidence, team building and friendships in its players.

"Hockey is an exciting team sport that allows players to come together and learn things inherent to playing a team sport," explained Kyle Ney, director of communications for Blind River Minor Hockey.

Blind River Minor Hockey has U7 to U18 divisions, and many players return yearly, creating an environment that fosters lifelong friendships and allows coaches to watch players' confidence and abilities grow within the team.

"We welcome players of all skills and abilities," Ney said. "We assist them with the fundamentals to ensure their success."

While the coaches are essential for the player’s success, the success of the hockey program relies solely on volunteers, including parents and community members, who put in multiple hours each season to ensure the program's success.

"Without volunteers, the program could not run as smoothly as it does," Ney said.

The registration deadline is August 31, but late registrations will be accepted for an additional fee.
