Woman arrested after police seize suspected fentanyl, methadone

29-year-old, who was wanted in relation to a theft incident, was charged after police responded to call regarding 'a female slumped over injecting a needle'

On May 29, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the intersection of Edinburgh Road and Canberra Crescent regarding a female slumped over injecting a needle.

Police attended and recognized the female as she was wanted for a previous theft-related occurrence. The female was subsequently arrested. In her possession were over two grams of suspected fentanyl, suspected crack cocaine, over 80 grams of methadone with the prescription label ripped off the bottle, numerous crack pipes, digital scales, and over $300 in cash.

Maigen Prisque, 29, of Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Theft under $5,000 - shoplifting
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - opioid (two counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - heroin

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 10.
