Webbwood driver accused of being impaired by drugs

ESPANOLA - On March 7, 2020 at approximately 4:40 a.m., officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) performed a traffic stop on Barber Street, Espanola.

Officers suspected that the driver was impaired by drugs. The driver was subsequently transported to the Espanola OPP Detachment for examination by a drug recognition expert (DRE).

As a result, Zachary Delisle, 33-years-old from Webbwood has been charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration contrary to section 320.14(1)(c) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) CC.

The accused was issued a 90-day administrative drivers licence suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. The driver is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on April 6, 2020.
