Two charged after restaurant-goers eat, drink but refuse to pay

Diners wouldn't pay or identify themselves, complainant said, leading to call to police

Two people in Elliot Lake have been charged after a pair of restaurant-goers dined at a restaurant Saturday afternoon but later refused to pay.

At approximately 3 p.m. April 8, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police were called to a restaurant on Oakland Boulevard. 

A complainant reported that two people had just had food and drinks but were refusing to pay or identify themselves. 

Police attended and subsequently arrested both people. 

It was learned that one of them was currently breaching prior release conditions, the OPP said in a news release.

Joseph Sicurella, 39, of Elliot Lake, was charged with food and lodging fraud and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River. 

Melissa Jones, 44, of Elliot Lake, was also charged with food and lodging fraud and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 1.
