Truck driver charged in fatal northern crash skips court, now a wanted man

OPP is looking for Richard Ouellette, a 69-year-old from Quebec who didn't show up to court.

A transport truck driver charged in a four-vehicle crash that killed a woman and two unborn babies last year is now a wanted person after skipping a court date.

Temiskaming OPP issued a public appeal today (Oct. 16) to locate Richard Ouellette, a 69-year-old known to reside in Dorval, Quebec.

Last year, he was charged with dangerous operation causing death and dangerous operation causing bodily harm. He has now also been charged with failing to attend court.

Ouellette is described as a white man with a heavy build. He is 5'9" tall and weighs 213 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and speaks with a French accent. 

The original charges against Ouellette stem from an April 7, 2022, crash on Highway 11 at Highway 65 in Temiskaming Shores.

A commercial motor vehicle heading northbound on Highway 11 crashed into a passenger vehicle at the Highway 65 intersection, with the impact causing a collision with two other vehicles as well.

Christina Osmond, a 21-year-old who was pregnant, was killed. A passenger in Osmond's vehicle was also pregnant and lost her unborn child due to her injuries.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
