Trespassing call leads to unrelated sexual assault charges for local teen

While investigating a trespassing call at a local school, police arrested an 18-year-old who was wanted on previous outstanding charges

On Nov. 12, 2021 at approximately 2:30 p.m., East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were called to a school on Mississauga Avenue, Elliot Lake in relation to a person trespassing on the property.

Police attended the school property and located the person. In addition, the person was wanted in relation to previous outstanding charges. As a result, an 18 year-old person from Elliot Lake was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code.

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on November 13, 2021.
