Traffic complaint leads to impaired driving charges in Espanola

Accused was seen driving erratically on Highway 6, police say

A 20-year-old Toronto woman faces impaired driving charges after the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a traffic complaint of an erratic driver on Highway 6 in Espanola June 26 around 6 p.m.

Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, a news release said. It was determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages and she was arrested for impaired driving. The driver was then transported back to the police detachment for further testing.

As a result, Kimberly Waddilove was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Aug. 21. The accused's driver's licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.
