Traffic complain leads to drug, impaired charges for 71-year-old

Traffic complaint leads to driver being charged with impaired driving.

On Nov. 20, 2023, shortly after 5 p.m., members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle unable to maintain its lane.

Police located this vehicle parked in a restaurant parking lot. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Brian Bush, 71 years old, from Carnarvon Township has been charged with:

  • possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine
  • operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • fabricating evidence

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Jan. 15, 2024.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
