Thessalon man accused of threatening police officers

38-year-old also charged with violating a court order not be at a particular property

A Thessalon resident is accused of threatening police officers who allegedly found him on a property he was ordered to stay away from.

Officers with the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police responded to the call at around 4:30 p.m. on Labour Day. Police say they were familiar with the person and knew of his court-ordered conditions.

The individual was arrested and police say the person threatened officers.

Mark Vasey, 38, of Thessalon, has been charged with:

  • fail to comply with undertaking
  • uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Blind River on Sept. 5, 2023.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Vasey is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
