Suspicious fire heavily damages camper trailers

It's estimated that the fire caused about $250,000 in damages to three trailers

Elliot Lake Fire Department responded to a fire in the lower parking lot at 1 College Place overnight.

Fire Chief John Thomas reports the fire is suspicious and heavily damaged three camper trailers.

"On March 6, 2024, at approximately 1:19 a.m., the Elliot Lake Fire Department received a call for a working fire in the lower parking lot of 1 College Place," he said in a release. "Upon arrival on scene, the fire department crew reported three camper trailers on fire."

The fires were brought under control by 2:08 a.m. but not before causing an estimated $250,000 in damage.

Because the fire is suspicious in nature, the OPP is investigating the incident.
