Stolen pistol investigation leads to charges against a second accused

Police say the parcel was wrongfully delivered to a different address and the person at that address accepted the parcel

On Jan. 9, 2022, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested another person in relation to the stolen pistol occurrence on Dec. 20, 2021.

The complainant reported that a parcel was wrongfully delivered to a different address and the person at that address accepted the parcel regardless. On Dec. 29, 2021, police arrested one person involved. After further investigation, police learned there was a second person involved.

Ken Neely, 43 years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with: 

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
  • Opening mail, contrary to section 48 of the Canada Post Corporation Act

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Feb. 1, 2022.
