BLIND RIVER - On March 28, 2018 shortly after 8 a.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of a westbound vehicle all over the road near the junction of Highways 17 and 108 in the Township of the North Shore.

Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The officer determined drugs of alcohol were not involved and issued a warning to the driver. While speaking to the driver the officer observed a male passenger not to be wearing his seatbelt.

As a result of the investigation, Deepak Singh Sidhu, 23 years age from Winnipeg, Man. was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with passenger-fail to wear seat belt, contrary to section 106(3)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The OPP would like to remind the motoring public of the Easter Long Weekend Seat Belt campaign that will commence on Friday, March 30, 2018 and end on Monday, April 2, 2018. Make sure you and your passengers are buckled up.
