Ontario Provincial Police executed a search warrant in Elliot Lake on Saturday after a person reported they had been assaulted.

In a news release, the East Algoma OPP said they executed the warrant at a residence on Hart Road.

The complainant reported being assaulted on Mississauga Avenue the previous day.

Police said they also learned the suspect in the assault was breaching previous bail conditions.

The OPP's Emergency Response Team assisted with the investigation and the suspect was safely arrested, the OPP said.

Daniel Lozier, 38, of Elliot Lake was charged with assault and failure to comply with a release order other than to attend court.

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on Feb. 11.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Lozier is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
