Police lay charges in residential break and enter

Officers say numerous items were stolen from the residence

ELLIOT LAKE - On June 21, 2020, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a break and enter at a residence on Gauthier Place in Elliot Lake, Ontario.

The complainant reported being out for the afternoon and returned home to find forced entry gained through the back door. Numerous items were stolen from inside the residence. 

The OPP's Forensic Identification Services (FIS) assisted with the investigation. Police later identified a suspect who was arrested and charged on June 22, 2020.   

Lee Martin, 28 years of age, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Theft under $5000, contrary to section 334(b) of the CC.

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River, Ontario on June 22, 2020.
