Ontario Provincial Police are asking people in Wikwemikong First Nation to shelter in place and lock their doors and windows as officers investigate an 'armed and dangerous person' in the community.

A Public Safety Alert sent to smartphones says people in Wikwemikong should report any suspicious people to police.

A post to the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service Facebook page says police are looking for a 39-year-old male suspect with a moustache and long black hair who is wearing black jeans and a camouflage sweater. He is average build and stands six-foot-one.

Schools in the community are also under a "hold and secure" says the Wiikwemikoong Board of Education in a post to its Facebook page.
