Police called after Blind River man 'overstays his welcome': OPP

BLIND RIVER – On June 17, 2020 shortly after 6:15 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an unwanted person at an apartment complex on Hawkins Street in the Town of Blind River.  

Investigation determined that the accused had overstayed his welcome at a tenant's apartment. The person was asked to leave and wouldn't. A query of the unwanted person revealed the accused was breaching a condition of an undertaking.   

As a result of the investigation, Eric Duguay, age 35 of Blind River, was charged with:  

  • Failure to comply with undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code; and with  
  • Fail to leave premises when directed, contrary to section 2(1)(b) of the Trespass to Property Act.    

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Aug. 6, 2020.
