Traffic stop leads to charge for Birch Island driver

Accused was unable to provide proof of insurance, say Police

BRUCE MINES - On March 10, 2020, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were on patrol duties in the Town of Bruce Mines.

Shortly after 4 p.m., police observed a westbound car on Highway 17 within the Town of Bruce Mines and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was unable to provide proof of insurance.

As a result of the investigation, Adele Misuga, 52 years of age from Birch Island, Ont. was charged with:
    •    Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on April 15, 2020.
