OPP report 33 domestic incidents in March

Seven of the offences ended in a criminal charge

BLIND RIVER – The East Algoma (Blind River, Thessalon and Elliot Lake) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 33 domestic-related incidents in the month of March 2022, seven (7) of which resulted in someone being charged with a criminal offence.

Some of the charges include:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault cause bodily harm
  • Mischief
  • Utter threats
  • Forcible entry
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Possession of prohibited device or ammunition
  • Administer noxious thing
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Take motor vehicle without consent

The OPP will not release names in order to protect the identity of the victims.
