OPP makes arrest of wanted person during drug call

East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police arrested a 26-year-old after responding to a call June 29 to assist Algoma Paramedic Services on a possible drug overdose on Mississauga Avenue.

Officers located a known male on a foot-trail leading to Angel Lake, according to a news release. Police knew there was an arrest warrant out for the man who seemed to be heavily intoxicated by drugs, the release added. In addition, he had in his possession approximately 11.5 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 50 grams of suspected green, pink and purple Fentanyl, two scales, crack pipes, numerous white capsules of suspected Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), approximately 95 grams of individually wrapped suspected MSM baggies in a large Ziplock bag and several hundred dollars in cash, the release said.

Trenton Richer of Elliot Lake, was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - Opioid (other than heroin).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on June 30.
