The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently recruiting 15 auxiliary members for Blind River (five), Thessalon (five), and Elliot Lake (five) Detachments.
OPP Auxiliary members are required for various duties such as:
- community policing
- crime prevention initiatives
- community events
- OPP special occasions
- patrol
- public service
The basic conditions for appointment are:
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Age 18
- Ontario Grade 12 or equivalent
- Class "G" driver's licence with good record
- No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted
- Certified in First Aid and CPR

Three OPP Auxiliary information sessions are being planned for the communities of Blind River, Thessalon and Elliot Lake sometime during the month of September. More information to follow once places, dates and times are confirmed.
