OPP lay 66 charges Labour Day Weekend

BLIND RIVER - Members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were responding to calls for service and participating in the Labour Day Weekend Traffic initiative this past weekend. Officers focused on distracted drivers from Friday, Aug. 30, 2019 - Monday, Sept. 2, 2019.

During this campaign, members of the East Algoma OPP laid 66 charges and are as follows:

  • 39 speeding charges
  • 4 hazardous moving vehicle violation charges
  • 15 other HTA offence charges
  • 2 Liquor Licence Act Charges
  • 4 Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charges
  • 2 Warn Range Suspensions
  • 1 Impaired Driving Charge
  • 1 Other Provincial Offence

During this campaign, members of East Algoma OPP responded to 158 calls for service ranging from assaults to traffic complaints, motor vehicle collisions, 911 hang up calls, family disputes and trespassing.
