Ontario Provincial police looking to recruit 15 auxiliary members

The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is recruiting 15 auxiliary members, five each for Blind River, Thessalon, and Elliot Lake. Detachments and will be hosting two information sessions in Elliot Lake on Saturday Nov. 4 at the Renaissance Active Living Centre

The morning meeting will begin at 10 a.m. and the afternoon meeting at 1 p.m.

OPP auxiliary members are required for various duties such as:

  • Community policing
  • Crime prevention initiatives
  • Community events
  • OPP special occasions
  • Patrol
  • Public service

The basic conditions for appointment are:

  • Canadian Citizen or permanent resident
  • Age 18
  • Ontario Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Class "G" driver's licence with good record
  • No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted
  • Certified in First Aid and CPR
