One charged with shoplifting after incident in Espanola

ESPANOLA — On May 31, 2022 at approximately 5 p.m. the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a shoplifting incident from a business on Centre Street in the Town of Espanola.

Investigation revealed that an individual attended the store and removed merchandise. Officers were able to locate the individual and subsequently arrested them.

Karen Constantin, 49-years-old from Wikwemikong was charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000- Shoplifting, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 18, 2022.
