One charged after weapons complaints in Serpent River First Nation area

Police say they later determined the handgun was a replica pellet handgun

SERPENT RIVER FIRST NATION - One person is facing charges after police received multiple weapons complaints on Gaaming Road and on Highway 17 in the area of Serpent River First Nation on May 12 after 5:30 p.m.

The Ontario Provincial Police believed an individual had a pole described as Taser and a handgun. 

A short time later, police located the individual in a shed at a residence on Highway 17. 

The same day at 6:12 p.m., police say they arrested Kyle Boissoneau, 27, from Serpent River First Nation and charged them with:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (two counts)
  • Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition (two counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon

The investigation later determined the handgun was a replica pellet handgun.

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail in Blind River on May 13 and was taken into custody, according to police.
