The Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 47-year-old man with impaired driving — twice in four days.

The first incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on May 13, when North Bay OPP pulled over an all-terrain vehicle during a RIDE check on Blue Sea Road in Bonfield.

The driver was subsequently charged with operation while impaired (blood alcohol concentration over 80), which led to a 90-day licence suspension. His ATV was also impounded for seven days.

Later that week, on May 16, the same man was pulled over in a different vehicle on Highway 654 in Callander. An Automatic Licence Plate Reader had alerted the officer to a suspended registered owner.

Once again, police allege the driver had consumed alcohol.

Mark Nix from Callander (previously from Astorville) is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired (blood alcohol concentration over 80)
  • Driving while suspended
  • Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor

Nix is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on June 6. None of the allegations have been tested in court, and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
