Massey area resident charged with impaired driving in North Bay

A driver travelling through a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on the Highway 17 East in North Bay was charged.

On Nov. 14, 2023 just before 1 a.m., members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were participating in a RIDE check when they stopped a vehicle.

After speaking to the driver, it was determined that they had consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay Detachment of the OPP for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Alden Trudeau, a 37-year-old from Sagamok, was charged with the following:
    •    operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
    •    operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
    •    drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor
    •    drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
    •    drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
    •    improper number plate light

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on Dec. 12, 2023.

The accused was also served a 90-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
