The Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police released the results of the 2023 Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) campaign.
The Festive RIDE ran from Nov. 16, 2023 to Jan. 1, with members completing multiple checks during that time on both Manitoulin Island and the Espanola area. The results of the campaign include:
- 171 RIDE checks conducted
- 18 drivers charged with impaired driving
- 29 impaired driving charges
- two warn range suspensions
The Manitoulin OPP would like to remind the public that if they suspect a driver may be impaired to call 911.
