Man who reported harassment accused of being impaired by drugs

Complainant wanted to meet officers at a local grocery store parking lot after filing a harassment complaint, police say

On April 10, 2023 shortly after 6 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a harassment complaint where the complainant wanted to meet police at a local grocery store parking lot in the City of Elliot Lake.

A short time later police attended the parking lot and spoke with the complainant/driver and it was determined the driver had [allegedly] consumed drugs. The driver was subsequently arrested and returned to detachment for further tests.

As a result, Jeffrey Cully, 40 years of age from Elliot Lake, was charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 1, 2023.
