One person has been arrested on an outstanding warrant after being stopped at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program.
On Aug. 23, 2023 shortly before 10 p.m., members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE on Highway 6 in Espanola.
A vehicle was stopped at the RIDE and it was determined that the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Further investigation revealed that the driver was also driving while under suspension.
As a result, Michael Phillips, 39 years old from Ajax, has been charged with:
• Driving while under suspension - two counts
• Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
• Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Oct. 3, 2023.
