Local resident charged after break-in in Webbwood

Suspect also charged with wearing a disguise, possessing break-in tools, and being in possession of cocaine

One person has been arrested in a break-in investigation in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, police say.

Officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a break and enter at a residence on Main Street in Webbwood on May 8, shortly after 2 a.m.

Police located one person inside the residence, according to a news release from the OPP.

This person was arrested and transported back to the police detachment, police said.

Darwin Flamand, 29, of Sables-Spanish Rivers Township was charged with:

  • Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (two counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance - cocaine
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Disguise with intent

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on May 15.
