Local man charged with public intoxication

Police say someone found a confused and intoxicated male wandering around outside in the cold and brought him to the police station

On Dec. 29, 2018 at approximately 9 p.m., East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police members responded to a male in the lobby of the police detachment in the City of Elliot Lake, Ontario.

The complainant found a confused and intoxicated male wandering around outside in the cold. He was dropped off at the police detachment. Police attempted to assist the male in finding him a safe place for the night but he was very uncooperative and belligerent. Police resulted in arresting the male and he was lodged until morning when sober.

Robert Forget, 54 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:

  • Being intoxicated in a public place, contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor License Act (LLA).

The accused was transported to the OPP detachment and lodged until sober.
