Local man charged after OPP receive 'multitude of harassment' complaints

On May 10, 2020 at approximately 11:15 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a male at a residence on Highway 17 in the town of Spanish in relation to numerous harassment complaints.  

Numerous complainants reported a multitude of harassment and threats by a known person in a neighbourhood in Elliot Lake. After an extensive police investigation, the male was arrested and charged.  

Randolph (Randy) Kunze, 36 years of age from Elliot Lake, was charged with:    

  • Criminal harassment - threatening conduct (four counts), contrary to section 264(2)(d) of the Criminal Code (CC),  
  • Mischief - interfere with lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property - Under $5000 (four counts), contrary to section 430(4) of the CC,  
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm (two counts), contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC,  
  • Fail to comply with probation order (nine counts), contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.  

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bail Court in Blind River on May 11, 2020.
