A single vehicle collision on Highway 540 leads to impaired driving charges in Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands.
On March 30, 2023, at approximately 5:20 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch.
Police determined during the investigation that the driver had been consuming drugs. They were subsequently arrested and returned to detachment for further tests.
Tyson Francis, 26 years old, from Little Current was charged with:
- operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- driving while under suspension
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on May 3, 2023.
