TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE - On March 5, 2018, members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol on Highway 17 in the Township of the North Shore.

Shortly before 9 p.m., police observed a vehicle parked at business entrance with its vehicle lights off. As the officer approached to investigate, the vehicle proceeded westbound on Highway 17. The officer followed the vehicle and conducted a licence plate query and revealed the registered owner was a suspended driver and a traffic was initiated. The female driver was in fact the registered owner and her vehicle was towed.

As a result of the investigation, Kellie Woodlocak, 53 years of age from Wasaga Beach, Ont. was charged with:

  • Drive while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act; and with
  • Fail to surrender insurance card, contrary to section 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on May 16, 2018.
