An Elliot Lake man is facing charges, including impaired driving, after a crash in his own driveway.

Ontario Provincial Police had received a complaint about a “known driver revving their car engine who was believed to be impaired” on Gillanders Road in Elliot Lake.

“The vehicle was later located after the driver crashed into a pick-up truck in their own driveway,” OPP said in a news release.

Officers arrested a suspect at around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

They say he was uncooperative and refused to provide a breath sample.

Joseph Hewlett, 38, from Elliot Lake has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Failure of refusal to comply with demand
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Fail to remain

The accused is scheduled to appear in an Elliot Lake court on March 14.
