Huron Shores man charged after fishing near Mississaugi Falls

MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION - On Saturday, April 25, 2020, a member from the Mississauga First Nation Police Service was on patrol duties on Highway 17 within the Territory of Mississauga First Nation.  

At approximately 8:15 a.m., the officer observed a small water vessel near the Mississaugi Falls. The two occupants were retrieving a gillnet in the river and made their way back to shore. 

As a result of the investigation, Thomas Hozjan, 43 years-of-age from the Municipality of Huron Shores, was charged with: 

  • Trespass for the purpose of fishing, contrary to section 10(1)(a) of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
