The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the discovery of human remains in Espanola.
On April 18 at approximately 11:40 a.m., members of the Manitoulin OPP responded to a call regarding the discovery of human remains in a wooded area in Espanola.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined. The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the North East Region Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services, the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCCO-OFPS).
Police believe there is no threat to public safety.
