Handgun brandished in gas station robbery: OPP (3 photos)

No injuries reported in Sunday evening incident

The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking for assistance in regards to a robbery that occurred at a gas bar on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake.

On Feb. 14, 2021 at approximately 7 p.m., police were called to the gas bar regarding a robbery that had just occurred. A person entered the building and approached the employee. A handgun was brandished and the entire cash box was stolen. There were no injuries and the suspect departed on foot.

The suspect looked to be male [wearing] a black toque, checkered black and white bandanna covering his face up to his eyes, black vest with gold/yellow letters stitched on the top left breast side pocket, black and white plaid long sleeved shirt underneath the vest, black pants, black gloves, light coloured boots/shoes. Witness described that the firearm that was brandished resembled a revolver.

The OPP's Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) assisted with the investigation. A person of interest was captured on video surveillance.
