Firearms, safe reported stolen in McKerrow area break-in

Two people have been arrested and charged following a break and enter at a residence in Baldwin Township.

On Nov. 23, 2023 shortly before 12 a.m., members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a break and enter that had occurred over the past week at a residence on Joseph Street in Baldwin Township.

Homeowners informed police that a vehicle, two long gun firearms, a propane heater and fireproof safe were stolen from the residence. Police were able to identify the suspects and recover some of the stolen property.

As a result of the investigation, Alicia Arnott, 34 years old from Espanola, has been charged with:
    •    Break and enter a place and steal a firearm
    •    Break, enter a place - commit indictable offence - two counts
    •    Mischief under $5,000
    •    Theft of motor vehicle
    •    Unauthorized possession of a firearm
    •    Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court - two counts
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance - other drugs
    •    Mischief - destroys or damages property

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Nov. 28, 2023.

Beau Davidson, 28 years old from Espanola, has been charged with:
    •    Break and enter a place and steal a firearm
    •    Break, enter a place - commit indictable offence - two counts
    •    Mischief under $5,000
    •    Theft of motor vehicle
    •    Unauthorized possession of a firearm
    •    Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Nov. 27, 2023.
