Family dispute results in assault charge

On May 23, 2023 at approximately 9 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a family dispute at a residence on Highway 17 in Serpent River First Nation.

Police spoke to the complainant who stated that an unwanted person was kicked out of the residence prior. This caused a family member to be upset, resulting in property damage and kicking a door. Police later located the person walking on Highway 17 and was subsequently arrested.

Kyle Boissoneau, 27 years old of Serpent River First Nation, was charged with:
    •    Assault
    •    Uttering threats - damage property
    •    Mischief under $5,000
    •    Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sault Ste. Marie on May 25, 2023.
