SABLES-SPANISH RIVER TOWNSHIP - On Nov. 9, 2021 at approximately 4:40 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a family dispute on Burns Crossover Road in the Township of Sables-Spanish River.
Police were able to locate the vehicle of one of the involved parties in the dispute a short time later.
After investigation, Jacob Bois, 23 years old of Spanish, was arrested and charged with:
• failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code
• traffic in schedule I substance - methamphetamine (crystal meth), contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
• driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
• insecure load, contrary to section 111(2) of the HTA
• operate unsafe vehicle, contrary to section 84, of the HTA
• operate a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on Nov. 9, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola.
