Espanola resident accused of shoplifting from Blind River gift shop

Video surveillance helped to identify the vehicle of the accused, police say

BLIND RIVER - On June 8, 2020, members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to shoplifting complaint at a local gift shop on Woodward Avenue in the Town of Blind River.

Shortly before 3:00 p.m., a shopper entered the gift shop and stole an item and left the store. Video surveillance and an Ontario licence plate number was provided for police and the identity of person was confirmed.

On June 20, 2020, police attended the residence of the accused and the person was served a trespass notice and a provincial offence notice.

As a result of the investigation, Lora McGrath, age 42, of Espanola was charged with: engage in prohibited activity on premises, contrary to the trespass to Property Act.
