Espanola driver, 19, faces impaired charges

2 a.m. traffic stop also leads to charges of driving without a licence, OPP says

A traffic stop in Espanola has resulted in charges for a teen driver.

On April 1 around 2 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a traffic stop on Haig Street in Espanola.

It was determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages, police said in a news release.

Police said the driver was arrested and returned to the detachment for further tests.

Luca Ross, 19, from Espanola was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and drugs  
  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive motor vehicle - No licence

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on May 15.
