Elliot Lake resident faces careless driving charges after clipping a transport

Police say he crossed the centre line on Highway 17 and hit the left front end of an oncoming tractor-trailer

On Sept. 25, 2020, shortly after 6 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck on Highway 17 in the Township of the North Shore.

Investigation determined the tractor-trailer was westbound on Highway 17 when an eastbound pickup truck travelled across the centre line and collided with the left front end of the tractor-trailer.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Sept. 26, 2020, the driver of the pickup truck, Collin Wickett, age 20, from Elliot Lake, was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with: Careless Driving. Contrary to section 130(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
