Elliot Lake man accused of having open liquor on a boat

On June 30, 2018 at approximately 3:45 p.m., East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police members were on Marine Patrol on Dunlop Lake in the City of Elliot Lake, Ont.

Police stopped a boat to check safety compliance under the Small Vessel Regulations and observed the operator to be consuming an alcoholic beverage. The male operator was subsequently charged.

Jason Lackey, 41 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ont. was charged with:  

  • Operating boat underway with unsealed container of liquor, contrary to section 32(3) of the Liquor License Act (LLA).

Impaired operation on the water carries the same fines and penalties as on the highway! No drinking and boating - beer on the peer, water on the water! Help keep our waterways safe for everyone!
