Elliot Lake man accused of brandishing knife at grocery store

Police say the incident resulted from an argument that started while the accused was waiting in line

On April 14, 2020 at approximately 12:15 p.m., members from the East Algoma Elliot Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a disturbance outside a grocery store on Highway 108 in the City of Elliot Lake.

Investigation determined that an argument ensued between people standing in line. One person became quite upset and proceeded to act in a threatening manner while brandishing a knife.   

Police quickly attended the scene and arrested the accused. 

Frank Leslie, 60 years of age of Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 7, 2020.
