Elliot Lake gas station robbed at knifepoint: police (update)

On Nov. 23, East Algoma OPP made an arrest in relation to two theft incidents that occurred in Elliot Lake on the morning of Nov. 20.

At approximately 2 a.m., officers responded to a call regarding an armed robbery at a gas station located on Highway 108. It is alleged that the employee had been robbed at knifepoint before the suspect fled the scene on foot with cash and cigarettes.

Later the same day at approximately 11 a.m., officers responded to a theft incident at a business on Elizabeth Walk during which the suspect took a number of items without paying for them and fled the store on foot.

"A description of the male and security video was provided to police," says a news release issued by OPP.

As a result of these investigations, 23-year-old Spencer D'Amato-Kosch of Elliot Lake is scheduled to appear in court today (Nov. 24) and stands charged with:
    •    Robbery with weapon
    •    Theft under $5,000
    •    Fail to comply with Probation Order x2
